Ammo info from inside the plant sources

Like almost all fanime or shortage the Gov is involved here. There are other things also.

Manufacturer didn't buy Brass at typical levels because of the spike in Metals price. They were waiting for it to fall. This caused them a shortage that was hard to over come.

Manufacturer had subcontracted for primers from a company that gave them a bad bunch and had to be fired. Then the manufacturer had to retool their own lines and produce thier own primers.-----Shortage due to months of primer manufactureing being done by sub standard co.

Seems DOD, DHD, and Leos have orders at the plant more than 4xs normal.

Gov contracts get presidence over Civilian and Industry users. However some will be released at a reduced level.

All Lines are going full blast for 9mm and 45. The 380 shortage is due to it being made on the same machines as the 9mm which are committed and running filling Gov Contracts. No 380 being ran at all until the Gov Contracts are filled----estimated 2-3 months. 38 Special ammuntion and other hand gun ammo is held hostage to the Gov contracts being filled and the Small Pistol Primer shortage caused by the down time.

Ammuntion shortage should be over in 2-3 months at current production levels and then they will release to public at full speed.

I have deja vu with Atlas Shrugged.

In the book, the government has legal precedent over private orders - so the government dries up the supply of the special Rearden Metal. As always, the government uses its order for destructive purposes while the average citizen loses out.

That is one reason I chose 9mm as my pistol/SMG caliber of choice.

I went with .40 (because 9mm is such a worthless caliber :bull-smile: :sarc:) in small part because many PD's around here use it but I have 9mm conversion barrels for 'just in case.'

I dunno, some people you can pretty much trust without having links, 3 forms of ID and finger prints to back up their claim....

Especially if its something that not off the wall or hard to beleive...

Does anyone have experience with commercial ammo production? Do they set up fixed, caliber-specific production lines, or is the tooling flexible enough to change out week-to week; 9mm this week, 45 ACP the next?
